November – Remembrance Day Parade
Our annual visit to Fitzwilliam for the Remembrance Day Parade was another crisp but sunny day in this former mining town. After asking the longest serving band members how many years we had been leading the parade in this town, and a quick tot up of the fingers and thumbs, we reckoned that this must be our 50th year in attendance!
The parade started from outside the Village Store on Wakefield Road heading south into the bright winter sun, until we reached the cenotaph in neighbouring Kinsley. Our bagpiper Andy played a lament during the short service and prayers alongside the cenotaph.
The band also performed again inside the former Kinsley Royal British Legion Club.
